By Kenetia Lee Start with a fresh face. If you have made it through two seasons and still have the same color foundation it is time to take a trip to the cosmetic counter. Your skin changes shades with the season depending on the intensity of the sun and so should your foundation. Most women have heard that their undertone never changes and in turn believe that their foundation should remain the same. This is just not true. Your undertone may not change, but your skins surface does not remain the same. Dare to change your hair. Now that your face is fresh and looking bright and healthy accentuate your face with your hair. There are no cookie cutter methods to what hair will look best on you. Then bring that advise to your trusted hair stylist as though its something youve read from a magazine and insist that they do it. Shift your face shape. Now there are may makeup tricks for giving your face the illusion of a different shape. Today, however, this is all what you wear around your neckline to shift the appearance of your face shape. If your face is long, think oval. Take inventory of all those v-necks you have in your wardrobe and have them disappear. Look for accessories that emphasize a round shape. Avoid necklaces that go more than an inch past your collard bone and earrings that hang really low. Round faces hook up with some of your long face girlfriends and snatch a few of those v-neck tops. Keep away from jewelry that has bulk i.e. Chunky turquoise necklaces, look for long plunging turquoise that you can layer with other long necklaces. Accessorize.Glasses, hats, scarves. Dont be afraid of them. Look to see how the recent fashion magazines are wearing the accessories. Take into consideration when buying sunglasses or regular eyeglasses your face shape. Chose colors that are in season and compliment you. Rule of thumb to live by when following trends not everything is for everybody. And we allowed that; some people are saying that; enough is enough and are planning a US Citizens Day. What is a US Citizens Day? Well the Non-Profit Group US Citizens Day are planning on July first of 2006 a special event; Nationwide Rally to Stop Illegal Immigration and when interviewed they said that a Citizens Day Without Illegal Aliens was now necessary stating; On May 1st, millions of illegal aliens demonstrated their economic power by boycotting U.S. businesses, schools, and hospitals. We can extend that concept by declaring our own Day Without Illegal Aliens. So, on On July 1st, you can demonstrate the economic power of U.S. citizens by boycotting businesses that you think employ illegal aliens. You do not have to prove it. You are just making a one-day statement. The US Citizens Day is in direct response to the protests and Communist Holiday Illegal Immigrants Boycott. We knew this was coming and now we seem to have a few very upset silent majority US Citizens who are not going to take this abuse of our laws lightly. And many have banded together to remove these Senators and Congressmen who do not act. So, while this is interesting to watch, it maybe even more interesting to see what happens. By R.L. Morgan If weve been hurt in love, it is easy to say, Im not going to let that happen again. We close off our heart, building a wall around it so no one can get close. The pain is too great. We dont want to feel like that ever again. We do whatever we can so that feeling wont be repeated. Twelve years ago I took a 9-day intense personal growth seminar. After a week of deep work we did an exercise that sounds particularly cruel. It certainly felt that way at the time yet it caused a breakthrough for me, but I would never recommend it. The exercise was done within our group of 15 people who had been working together and sharing ourselves deeply all week. We were to choose the three people we felt least connected to and tell them so. This was excruciating for me to tell someone else this, but it was more so because half the group told me I was one of the three. I was so devastated I cried uncontrollably for a long time. In fact, it was so painful I get tears thinking about it now twelve years later. The breakthrough for me though, was to look at why I was causing such a disconnect with so many people. I always thought I got along well with most people so this feedback was like a bucket of ice water on my head. After much soul searching, I saw there were many reasons I was off-putting to others. But one that hit hard was that Id built a thick wall around my heart, thinking that if no one got close they couldnt hurt me. Of course, all it really did was keep others even people I loved at arms length. I visualized myself kicking through the wall to expose my heart once again. After more work, I began to connect with those around me. In A Return to Love, Marianne Willliamson says: Our barriers to love are rarely consciously chosen. They are our efforts to protect the places where the heart is bruised. Somewhere, sometime, we felt as though an open heart caused us pain or humiliation. We loved with the openness of a child, and someone didnt care, or laughed, or even punished us for the effort. Dating Tips that Work- Which of the Three Types of Women Should You be Dating?

By John Alanis When most “dating gurus” and sex therapists spout their dating tips, they often complicate the whole process with unusable theory and psychobabble. Im going to bypass that, make it brain-dead simple for you, and most importantly, reveal a few dating tips you can apply in the real world. In these dating tips, I’m going to share with you the little-known concept of the “three types of women. There’s a wonderful book you should read called “Winning Through Intimidation” by Robert Ringer. You can get it on Amazon for a few bucks (get the original version published in the 1970’s, not the new “touchy feely” one.) Many people are turned off by the title, thinking it’s about “scaring” people into giving you what you want. That’s not what it’s about, though. It’s actually about protecting yourself from intimidation. It’s also a fun read, full of hilariousstories and even a few cartoons (of turtles wearing sunglasses). But it’s a book each and everyone looking for dating tips needs to read, because the part I’m about to share with you absolutely applies to interacting successfully and effortlessly with sexy women. In the book, Ringer talks about the three types of people in the business world- and in my experience he’s 100% correct. Here they are. Type #1- this is the guy who is out to get all your “chips” and lets you know about it. This guy is “straightforward” about his intentions, what some would call honest. Type #2 this is the guy who assures you he is not out to get your “chips”, and in fact, tells you he wants you to get everything that is coming to you. Then he attempts to grab all your “chips” anyways. Type #2’s are the most treacherous type. Type#3: this is the guy who assures you he is not out to get your chips, and sincerely means it, but by his bumbling, stumbling or just pure incompetence he winds up trying to take them anyways (even though he doesn’t mean to). How do the three types translate into a usable dating tip? And, how does all of this relate to success with attracting sexy women? Well, it’s been my experience that women fall into, roughly, these three types as well. Type #1: she’s straightforward with you about her intentions whether she’s into “fun friends,” or looking for a husband, she is forthright with you up front. She knows herself and what makes her happy. Type #2: this is the woman who appears to be straightforward with you about what she wants but for whateverreason, she’s out to get your money, deliberately break your heart, or she’s just pissed at all men -what a female friend of mine called a “cruel woman.” Like the above type #2, the operative word here is “treacherous.” Type #3: this is the woman who truly believes herself when she tells you what she’s looking for, but for whatever reason,bad things seem to happen around her she “self sabotages” whenever things are going good, and winds up wreaking great emotional havoc on the men in her lives, even though she doesn’t mean to. The result is still the same as dealing with a Type #2, though, and thats why its vitally important you pay close attention to the above dating tips. Obviously you want to spend your time with the Type #1’s (in business and with women) and avoid the Type #2’s. If you pay attention and listen for her, what I call, map/model of the world, you can usually identify the Type #2’s. You’ll hear things like “my last boyfriend was cheap, he wouldn’t take me out or buy me things.” Or, things like, “I drove by his house and a strange car was in the driveway he was cheating on me.” Here is a dating tip that will save you time,money, and heartache: when you hear things like this, run away FAST. Type #3’s can be more difficult to identify. It usually takes a lot longer, and you have to pay careful attention. Listen for things like, “It was going along so good, and I just don’t know what happened.” Type #3’s are controlled by their “inner world,” not in control of it. That’s why I usually recommend starting any relationship as just “fun friends” so you can begin to get a clear picture of her map/model of the world and pinpoint her Type. A lot of what appear to be Type #1’s in the beginning actually identify themselves as Type #3’s later on down the line. You can never stop paying attention, or you will get in trouble. Dating tips like this one can be applied, and used day in and day out. Start paying attention to this, and watch just how true this is. It’s the difference between happiness and misery! Affairs - A Shot in the Heart

By Allie Ochs While fantasizing about being someone else doesnt mean, people will act upon it, it nevertheless sets the stage for an affair should the opportunity arise. Some have long-term affairs with the same person, others have affairs with several partners, and some may cheat just once. Sadly, the commandment, Thou shall not commit adultery has been twisted into Thou shall not admit adultery. There are those who never cheat but keep the fantasy alive. Almost 50 percent of married people have affairs. Slightly over 70 percent are dissatisfied with their sex life, and 85 percent wish for more romance. Far too many married people entertain thoughts of someone else, and some even believe this to be normal. Others think that being dissatisfied in their relationships is a sufficient reason to have an affair. Even though dissatisfying sex lives appear to be a main reason for affairs among couples, the underlying cause is mostly friction and conflict in other areas. Some straying lovers actually claimed that an affair revived their relationship, such as in the case of Darby and Roger. A frustrated Darby stated Rogers inconsiderate five-minute sex routine as the reason for their problems. When she met Mel, she felt justified to get what she was missing in her marriage. The affair lasted over a year and Darby felt sexually fulfilled. Mel ended their affair when Roger discovered his wifes infidelity. Ironically, Darby and Roger both reported an improved sex life after the affair. Now their sexual interludes extended from five minutes to ten and are an act of two emotionally beaten people instead of lovemaking. Rogers pride had been attacked. Yet, he decided to forgive Darby, who did not care about the consequences of her affair. Instead, she felt deserted by Mel who had ended the affair. It didnt take long for Darby to seek another affair, only this time she was more careful about not getting caught. Roger and Darby still live their lives with lies and deception and are only tied together through habit and fear of change. Both avoid the real issue in their relationship, which is the lack of emotional connectedness. As a result, they are not in tune with each other. Being unfaithful is morally irresponsible and never a solution to relationship problems. As a matter of fact, it is the ultimate betrayal and the devastating consequences can almost never be erased. Some may point to relationships that have continued after an affair. People can forgive and even rationalize affairs, but they can never make them go away. Seemingly forgiven affairs will always be the one cracked brick making the house crumble, even if all the other bricks have weathered the storm. Like a weak link, overcome affairs will snap the chain when someone rattles it. Many relationship experts argue that relationships can be mended and even improved after an affair. However, the pain and distrust can never be erased. Often, when a couple stays together after an affair, it is for reasons that have very little to do with love, and sooner or later they split up anyway. Still, it is a personal choice whether to forgive an affair or to end the relationship. In all cases professional help should be sought. If a relationship is to survive an affair (as few do) the purest and surest way to starting over is through sexual abstinence. Respect and trust cannot be established in bed. Leaving sex out of the equation for a while allows you to connect honestly as human beings again. By Jeff Garcia It costs the state over $100 billion a year, over 100 million Americans are still at risk and more than 400,000 have died from it over the past 12 months It is sadly self inflicted and second only to smoking and left to its current trends it will easily take the number one slot within the next 5 years. It is of course Obesity! And yet no one seems to butt an eyelid despite it being a serious major problem, in fact an epidemic. But how often do we think why? Who is responsible? The food manufacturers, the government or us - the individual. There would be a public outcry at the mere thought of BSE (Mad Cow Disease) being detected in livestock and yet many food manufacturers, particularly fast food chains consistently produce food containing ingredients which could be justifiably described at nothing less than toxic. In reality why would any of the offending manufacturers want to change when they are making billions of dollars profit each and every year. In a similar vein, do the health and diet companies really want you to succeed in losing weight? Perhaps not, as their mere existence is dependant on you not being successful. They are dependant on successful failures. An Internet search on the word Diet reveals in excess of 96,000,000 web pages of diet plans, pills, potions, miracle cures and yet we are in the midst of an obesity epidemic. So we must ask what is it that is simply not working. We only have to look around us to see with our own eyes that there is a problem. Bob Schwartz an American health expert and nutritionist has stated Diets are in fact designed not to work. The evidence of 60% of the American population is proof enough. Both the grocery and diet industries are to too big, too powerful and above all worth billions. There is no intention nor reason for them to change. Are they not part of the problem? You and only you have the power to change and therefore you need, must and can gain control as an individual. There is only one successful method to enduring weight loss and that is to embark on a nutritional scheme that is in line with the expectation of your body. The range of acceptable foods is believed to be far less narrow that originally thought. This is based on the fact that we have existed on this planet for 99.5% of our time as humanoid beings for well over 2 million years as a hunter/gatherer. We primarily existed on a diet of meat, fish, shellfish, plant vegetation, fruit, seeds and nuts for the majority of this time until the agricultural revolution. This is eons of time during which our body has formed natural biological and chemical processes to best extract the nutrients it needs from these food types during the digestion process. The foods were natural and raw and in effect the body had to work hard to extract the carbohydrates, proteins and fats it required, in addition to the essential vitamins, minerals and phytochemicals it needs to live healthily. This is all just part of the process of evolution where only the fittest survive. But how divorced is todays diet of manufactured processed food to the foods consumed by our distant cousins. Our diet has so dramatically changed in only the last 40-50 years - and not for the better. Our food has become more processed which has in effect, has made it too easy to digest and it does not contain the same balance of carbohydrates, protein and fats that our body has been biologically designed to accept. It also contains far less vitamins and minerals, and more importantly, little or no phytochemicals that our body has relied on for disease protection over hundreds and thousand of generations. So why should we be surprised that Mother Nature has reacted in light that 40-50 years is not even the width of an atom on the evolutionary scale. In terms of digestion our body is doing exactly the same at it was 30,000 years ago. It is therefore us that has to make the change as an individual to achieve a nutritional balance that has formed part of our genetic inheritance over millions of years of evolution. Nature will not change in our lifetime, so we must. Therefore No change = No enduring weight loss and good health. The changes a successful dieter must achieve are: 1. To ensure a sufficient daily quantity of water is consumed to allow the processes of cell metabolism to occurs efficiently, particularly relating to digestion and energy release. The vast majority of these metabolic chemical reactions require the presence of the H2O molecule therefore adequate consumption of water is essential, but surprisingly this is only achieved by the minority. 2. To revert back to consuming more foods that are natural, free from being heavily processed and therefore allied to nutrition that the body has been designed for and expects. The more natural the food is, the more it is in line with our genetic nutritional inheritance and the more energy required for its digestion. The reverse is also true. Additionally, a wide range of natural food contains all the micronutrients, including phytochemicals that are essential for our healthy existence, aside from the well documented vitamins and minerals. 3. Develop a lifestyle that energizes and works the bodys muscular structure which is a prerequisite to the biological processes that result in the promotion of good health and well being. Exercise acts as a evolutionary biological trigger to indicate to the body that your self being is capable of securing food as in the act of hunting and gathering. Not exercising triggers a reaction to store fat and it is a biological mechanism to support survival. It lowers the rate of energy consumption and metabolism and is based on the assumption that your self being is not capable of hunting and is therefore unable to secure food. This is Natures survival technique to reserve energy and maintain a constant body temperature as exercise and movement generates heat and helps to maintain warmth. 4. Mentally re-educate to retrain the mind to overcome the addictive properties of the modern food types such as refined sugars and processed fats. A switch to more natural foods initiates the process, but the mental addiction of emotional hunger must also be addressed to distinguish it from normal biological hunger. Mental training is an essential ingredient of any successful training process. Weight loss can never be maintained without all 4 of these stages being consistently applied and actively used. By Cristina Favreau Cereal manufacturers know how to grab your attention: bright colours, simple and compelling messages (Source of 5 essential nutrients!!!), catchy headlines. What about the ingredient list with all the nutritional information? Thats on the side; easily found, but obviously secondary. The lesson: Ingredient lists dont sell cereal. Look at your business features as you would the nutritional information on a cereal box: people only look at it when they are already considering buying the box. It displays important information that needs to be communicated, but it does not answer the first questions in the clients mind. For service providers, marketing is a challenge: you know your service is useful and has value, but because you dont have a physical product, the benefits may be harder to define. After all, your client will only experience what you do once they actually hire you, which they wont do if the benefits of using your services are not convincing. How will you, as a service professional, deal with this fact? You must communicate with your clients by being focused on their needs first. Attract, then Inform I notice that many of my clients put too much emphasis on what they do instead of emphasizing why their audience should choose them over the competition or choose them at all. Absolutely nothing, if they are true. In fact, these are features your clients should be aware of. They are part of what you are offering (the what of your business), but they are independent of your clients and their personal concerns. Benefits are effective in attracting people because they speak to what they can gain personally. Once you have their attention, then you can enhance your selling proposition with features. Features can close a sale, but they will usually not be your clients first point of entry. Your benefits should: Show the value of your services, Tell your audience what problems you will solve, andDescribe what they stand to gain by doing business with you I vs. You In the features list above, notice how many times I, we, our, my, and me are used. People are naturally concerned with their own needs first. By presenting them with a list of reasons why you are so great, you are sending them the wrong message: that their needs are secondary to what you think they should know. Dont make the mistake of turning your marketing into a giant rsum of your accomplishments. Use words like you and your more often. Be your own client What do your clients look for? Try a little role playing: Pretend you are your own prospective client and objectively evaluate your communication material. Ask yourself: Would I buy from myself? What would keep me interested? What am I looking for? What do I really want? Learn from how you search the web: If you were looking for administrative help, would you be searching Google for 15 years of experience? Probably not. You would be more likely to search for terms like database entry or transcription services. If thats what you look for, chances are most of your clients will do the same. Give them what they want and organize your information accordingly. As you create any communication material, answer these questions: What is the value of my service?What distinct problem will my service solve?What will my client gain?What does my client stand to lose by not using my service?How will my client feel after buying/using my service?What pain will it take away?What goal will my client achieve?What desire does it fulfill? The answer may be different for each target market, so it is important to know who your prospective clients are before asking yourself these questions. Being completely objective about your own business is not easy; youve worked hard to build it and you know it inside out. Defining your benefits from an outside perspective can enable you to better understand how other people view your business. Getting a view of your own big picture is something a professional business coach can help you achieve. Whether you do it alone or get outside help, it never hurts to think about what you have to offer to potential clients. By Laura McDonald Being a paralegal, or legal assistant, is a fulfilling and challenging career. It can be rewarding. It can also be quite stressful. The four Ps will pave the way for a successful paralegal career. These are: 1. Punctuality. Ever notice how your stress level rises when youre late for work or a meeting? You sit in traffic and the clock is ticking out a drumbeat in your head. By the time you get to work, youre flustered and certainly not in the best mind frame to calmly begin your work tasks. Instead of this nerve-racking scenario, the practical, punctual paralegal plans on leaving for work 15 minutes earlier. This allows extra time for unforeseen circumstances to intrude but not alter ones sense of serenity. I have a rule of thumb anticipate five irritations while driving to work and smile through them. If theres more than five, well, maybe its time to pull off the road and let the maniacs go on ahead. 2. Patience. Be gentle with yourself. If you feel tenseness building, take deep, cleansing breaths, and several more as needed. Oxygen fills your lungs, your pulse lowers, and a feeling of peacefulness returns. Paralegals practice patience toward co-workers, clients, phone callers, anyone who may not quite have being gentle with themselves mastered yet. 3. Perseverance. A missing witness? Keep trying to locate him, and stop when you do. A file has disappeared? Search until its found and ask others for assistance. Feeling brain-dead while summarizing a very dry deposition transcript? Get up and stretch, look out a window for a few minutes while you feel yourself relaxing. Then don your determination again, and get back to the grind. Legal assistants who excel in their jobs are dedicated to completing tasks. 4. Pride. If you know youre doing your best, you will feel proud of your accomplishments. Ensure your work product reflects positively on you and your boss. Every document going out of your office gauges quality; for professionals this is extremely important. Sloppy work does not go unnoticed. Check and then doublecheck your documents. Are they as clean and attractively presented as possible? If so, sit back and smile. The above principal Ps for paralegals are, of course, only part of what highlight good skills. But they are very important.
